DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a member of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir from Jatra Bari area of the capital on Sunday night (May 19).
RAB-10 issued a press release on Monday (May 20).
According to release, RAB-10 launched a drive in Jatra Bari area around 11 pm on Sunday. Md. Ramjann Hossen, 36, was detained while he was distributing ant-government leaflets. A mobile and cash Taka 28,000 were seized from them.
RAB, based on primary investigation, said Ramjann was in-charge of leaflet production and distribution cell of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
He had been spreading extremist ideas among devotees of religion through extremist books and leaflets, the release said.
A case was filed against him with Jatra Bari police station, the release also said.
