Japan keen to welcome Sheikh Hasina Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina meets Japanese Ambassador Hiroyasu Izumi at Ganobhaban

DHAKA: Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi said his country will continue its cooperation for the economic development of Bangladesh.

Japan will cooperate in the improvement of Matharbari Power Plant Project in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s, said Hiroyasu Izumi while paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence-Ganobhaban on Tuesday (May 20).

PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the reporters after the call.  

In her (Sheikh Hasina) upcoming official tour, Japanese envoy informed that Japan is expecting to sign a USD 2.5 billion dollars cooperative development agreement with Bangladesh.

The Japanese Ambassador appraised the progress of the coal-fired 1200 MW Matarbari Power Plant project in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar District.

Sheikh Hasina said, “Japan is a great friend of Bangladesh and recalled the contribution of Japan in the economic development of the country.”
