PATHARGHATA (BARGUNA):  Police seized five tons of venison from a small canal in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district.

Police also seized a trawler from there, but none could be detained.

The drive was launched led by a forest official of Charlathimara Bit forest department Bodiuzzaman Khan Sohag around 3:30 pm on Saturday (May 18).

Bodiuzzaman Khan said: “Two heads, two skins and a trap were seized. 8 deer were believed to be slaughtered.” 

“Venison will be buried as per the direction of mobile court later.  A case will be filed under Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act in 2012,” he added.

“The trawler belongs to Abdur Rahman Shikdar who happens to be father of Coast Guard boatman,” Coast Guard station commander Sub Lieutenant Jahurul Islam, told Banglanews.
