Drug dealer killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with police on Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive road at Teknaf area on Wednesday (April 24).

Two police officials were also injured in the incident, according the claim of police.

The deceased was, identified as Mohmmad Dilu, 36, son of late Makbul Ahmed Prokash Putul, a resident of Godarbil area of Teknaf.

“Police detained Dilu around 8 pm on Tuesday (April 23). Later, with information obtained from, police raided Marine Drive area to seize yaba pills and arms,” Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station, told Banglanews.

"His accomplices, who were waiting in ambush there, opened fire to take back Dilu. In self defense, police retaliated, triggering a gun battle. At one stage, drug dealers retreated and Dilu was found dead," OC also said.

"7,000 pieces of yaba pills and 6 locally-manufactured arms were seized from the spot," OC added.

"Dilu was a listed drug dealer, having 9 cases filed with Teknaf police station. His body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Hospital for autopsy," OC further added.
