THAKURGAON: A Bangladesh national was gunned down by members of Border Security Force of India along Dongaon border area in Haripur upazila early on Monday (April 22).

The deceased was identified as Sumon, 22, son of Shafirul Islam, a resident of Dangipara village of Haripur upazila. Besides, BSF also picked up another young man Masud Rana, 20, son of Enadul of the same village.

A group of 10/12 traders went to border pillar no. 357 to bring cattle around 4:00am. At that time, BSF members from Basatpur camp opened fire on them, leaving Sumon dead on the spot, locals and BGB sources said.

BGB has already sent letter to the BSF protesting the incident and urging them to hold a flag meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Samiun Nabi, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh 50 battalion, told Banglanews.

The flag meeting is likely to be held in afternoon, he added.
