 Bangladesh-Brunei sign 6 MoUs, an exchange of note

FROM BRUNEI: Bangladesh has signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Brunei on science and technology in agriculture, arts and culture, fuel and energy, industry, youth and sports, fisheries and livestock resources sectors.

Apart from that, the two nations signed an exchange of note on travel without visa for diplomats and government officials of both countries at that time.

After the meeting between Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the official residence of the Sultan on Monday (April 22) noon, the six MoUs and an exchange of note have been inked in presence of the PM and the Sultan.

Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque and Brunei’s Primary Resources and Tourism Minister Ali bin Apong signed the MoU on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru and Brunei Minister Ali bin Apong signed two deals on cooperation in the fields of fisheries and livestock.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid and Brunei’s Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Aminuddin Ihsan inked the MoU on cultural and arts cooperation.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel and Brunei Minister Aminuddin Ihsan signed the deal on cooperation in the field of youth and sports, while State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and Brunei’s Energy, Manpower and Industry Minister Mat Suny inked the MoU on cooperation in LNG supply.

Earlier on Sunday (April 21), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Brunei Darussalam on a three-day official visit at the invitation of the kingdom’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Flight BG1045 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the premier and her entourage members took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:25 am.

The flight is scheduled to land at Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Brunei capital, at 2:45 pm local time when Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah is expected to receive Sheikh Hasina at the airport.

After the official welcome function, a ceremonial motorcade will escort the prime minister to Empire Hotel and Country Club, where she will be staying during her visit.

On the first day of the visit, Sheikh Hasina joined a community reception to be hosted in her honour by the expatriate Bangladeshis in Brunei at Indera Samudera Ballroom of Empire Hotel and Country Club.
