DHAKA: Customs officials early on Monday (April 22) seized 4 kilogrammes gold and worth around Tk 2 crore, from a toilet of boarding bridge no-8 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Acting on a tip-off, the team raided the area at 1:00am and recovered four gold bars from a toilet, Othelo Chowdhury, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Dhaka Customs House, told Banglanews.

The estimated value of the gold bars is around Tk 2 crore, he added.

Legal steps would be taken under the customs act in this connection, Othelo Chowdhury said, adding, drives are on to nab the people involved in the gold smuggling.
