Yaba trader killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight

COX’S BAZAR: A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported ‘gunfight’ between two rival groups in Teknaf upazila of the district. 

The incident happened at Kangorpara hilly area of Huwaikong union on Saturday dawn (April 20).

The deceased was, identified as Md. Shahab Uddin, son of late Abdur Rahman, from the abovementioned area.

On secret information, a team of police immediately raided the area.   Fearing presence of law enforcers, drug dealers fled towards the hills, Rakibul Islam Khan, police inspector (operation) of Teknaf model police station, told Banglanews.

The bullet-injured yaba trader was declared dead at Teknaf hospital. Later, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital to perform autopsy on it, said Rakibul Islam Khan.

Shahab Uddin had a number of cases including drug-related ones filed against him, Rakibul Islam Khan also said.

2400 pieces of yaba pills, 7 rounds of cartridges, 9 rounds of bullet shells and 2 locally-made pistols were seized from the spot.
