PM shocked at death of fireman Sohel Rana

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (April 8) expressed profound shock at the death of fire fighter Sohel Rana who succumbed to Banani fire injuries at Singapore hospital.

PM’s press wing came up with the development this noon. 

In her condolence message, the premier said Sohel Rana will be a bright example for supreme sacrifice of his life to protect the lives of others.

The Prime Minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Fire fighter Sohel Rana who sustained severe injuries while rescuing people trapped in a high-rise in city’s Banani area where a devastating fire erupted on March 28, lost his battle for life at a hospital in Singapore.

Earlier on March 28, Sohel Rana, a staff of Kurmitola Fire Service and Civil Defence, suffered severe injuries after falling off from the ladder while rescuing people during the fire that killed 26 people and many injured.

Later, Rana was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka and then he was flown to Singapore for better treatment on Friday (April 5).
