Bangladeshi dead, 6 Pakistanis hurt in Macedonia accident

DHAKA: One Bangladeshi migrant was killed and six Pakistanis were seriously injured in a car accident in North Macedonia early on Sunday (March 31), local police said.

The deceased was identified as S.I, initials of 27-year-old Bangladeshi.

According to police, the accident took place when driver of the car told its passengers to jump from the speeding vehicle after he apparently had spotted a police patrol.

The vehicle carrying the Bangladeshi and 14 Pakistanis was traveling on the country’s main highway running north from the border with Greece to the Serbian border in the early hours, leaving one dead on the spot and six others injured.

The injured Pakistanis were taken to nearby hospitals.

The driver managed to flee the spot and they are searching for him, police said.

However, law enforcers gave no details as to how many people actually jumped from the vehicle.
