MANIKHGANJ: Launch and ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma river have been suspended for one hour due to inclement weather to avert the untoward incident.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the services on the route around 5:30 pm on Sunday due to bad weather, said Ruhul Amin, assistant manager of BIWTC Aricha ghat.
Later, ferry services on the river route resumed around 6:30pm when weather getting better.
Rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary west/north-westerly gusty/squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal no one, said inland riverport warning of met office.
In association with rain/thunder showers temporary west/north-westerly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Sylhet wherein riverports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two.
