DHAKA: A Dhaka court remanded for seven days the driver of the Suprobhat Paribahan bus that ran over Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury.

Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikary of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued the order Wednesday (Mar 20).

Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam, investigation officer of the case filed over Abrar’s death, sought 10-day remand after producing bus driver Sirajul Islam before the court.

BUP’s international relations department student Abrar was crushed to death by a bus of Suprobhat Paribahan in Pragati Sarani of the capital’s Nodda area around 7am Tuesday (March 19).

Sirajul Islam was nabbed from the spot and a case was filed with Gulshan Police Station over the accident.

However, shocked by the unnatural death of Abrar, students from various universities took to streets demanding justice and safe transportation service countrywide.
