SUNAMGANJ: Police recovered the body of a local leader of Awami League in Sunamganj sadar upazila Tuesday (Mar 19) morning.

Four persons were detained over the suspected murder.

They are—Selim Mia, 26, Sagar Mia, 17, Shahin Shah, 40 and Robi Mia, 25.

On Tuesday (March 19) morning, his body was recovered from a place near Dulaipar School in Islampur village of the union.

Local sources said Jahangir Nagar union unit Awami League general secretary Joynal Abedin didn’t return after leaving home Monday (March 18) morning.

The body, bearing stab marks, was handed over to the deceased’s family, Sunamganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaidullah told Banglanews.

Of the four detainees, one confessed to the killing. Legal action is being initiated against them, added the OC.
