Bhutan PM to visit Dhaka in April

DHAKA: Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering will visit Dhaka in the second week of next April at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina.

After a secretary-level bilateral meeting between Bangladesh and Bhutan at state guest house Meghna on Tuesday (March 19), Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque briefed reporters about the development. 

He said that in the Foreign Office Consultation (FOC), the two countries discussed trade, electricity, connectivity and various issues.

After the meeting, Bhutan's foreign secretary Sonam Tshong said Bhutanese Prime Minister studied at a medical college in Bangladesh. That is why he is very much interested to visit Bangladesh. 

“We hope that Bhutan premier will arrive here in the second week of April and through the tour the ties, especially bilateral trade, between the two nations will be strengthened”.
