Expat’s Sylhet home caretaker found dead, 7 held

SYLHET: An elderly caretaker of a house belonged to an expatriate in Canada was found dead in Osmaninagar upazila Monday (Mar 18).

Police recovered the body from a septic tank of the house in Purbo Tajpur village under Sadipur union of the upazila at noon.

Police, however, detained seven persons over the incident whose identities weren’t disclosed yet.

Relatives of deceased Anik Mia, 60, demanded that he was killed after calling him from the house, Sunday (Mar 17).

The body was sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, said Osmaninagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Al Mamun.

Preparations are underway to file a case, in this regard, he added.

However, Anik had been working as a caretaker of the house of one Alauddin living in Canada for long.
