3 killed as rival villagers clash in B’baria

BRAHMANBARIA: Three out of 25 people who suffered injuries in a clash between two rival groups at Mirpur village under Bijoynagar upazila on Saturday, lost their battle for life so far.

The deceased were identified as Kala Miah, 70, son of Hazi Aala Boksh, Mansur, 22, son of Khosh Miah, and Nasima, 30, three-month pregnant wife of Al Amin of Mirpur village. 

The three people who have been undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital succumbed to their injuries between Saturday night and Monday (March 18) morning, said Rezaul Kabir, assistant superintendent of police of Brahmanbaria Sadar and Bijoynagar circle.

According to villagers and police, two groups of villagers locked in an altercation over soil business and broke the veku machine.

At a stage, both groups, who had longstanding enmity, attacked each other with lethal weapons.

At least 25 people, including two women, were injured in the two hours-long clash.

The injured were sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
