Death toll of Bangladeshi nationals could rise to 8 Foreign Affairs Minister AK Abdul Momen at the seminar

DHAKA: Foreign Affairs Minister AK Abdul Momen said death toll in New Zealand mosque carnage could rise from 4 to 8, because it is confirmed yet how many Bangladeshi nationals were killed.

AK Abdul Momen was chairing a seminar called ‘Bangabandhu in International Arena’ in city’s National Press Club on Sunday (March 17).

Bangladesh Study Trust organized the seminar on the occasion of the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

He told reporters, “We learnt that death toll of Bangladeshi nationals has risen. The number has not been confirmed yet, but ministry will disclose the number through a press release.”

The minister said we will launch a program called ‘Culture of Peace’ in the wake of the attack, which will enhance respect for religion and culture and limit hatred, intolerance and violence.

Out of 50 deaths, 4 Bangladeshi nationals were confirmed dead till writing the report.
