DHAKA: A special prayer was held after the Jumma on the mosques in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country on Friday (Feb 22) for the victims of the Chawkbazar fire.
The imams, during the special prayers, offered fateha for the salvation of the souls of the fire victims.
At Bangabhaban Jam-e-Mosque, President Md Abdul Hamid, flanked by lawmaker Rezwan Ahammad Toufiq, President’s Military affairs Secretary, Press Secretary and officials of Bangobhaban, joined the special prayers for fire victims.
The prayer was led by Hafez Maulana Enamul Haque, Muazzin of the mosque, after the Juma prayers.
Special prayer was also held at Churihatta Shahi Mosque located beside the spot of the Chawkbazar tragedy.
Thousands of devotees joined the prayer and sought peace and salvation of the dead souls and quick recovery of the burn injured.
Besides, a gayebana janaza was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque for the victims of the Chawkbazar fire.
Prior to the janaza, the devotees also offered special prayers for the burn victims.
Earlier on Thursday night, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah requested nations to offer special prayer after the Jumma on all the mosques of the country for the dead in Chawkbazar fire.
67 people were killed in Chawkbazar inferno till reporting.
The fire broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka around 10:45 pm on Wednesday (February 20).
A probe body was formed. Measures will be taken based on their report.
