 2 siblings get life terms for murder in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ: A court here on Tuesday (Feb 19) sentenced two siblings to life term imprisonment for killing a man over land dispute in Sadar upazila in 2012.
 
The convicts are Akkas Mia, and Tara Mia, sons of Latifabad village in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.

The court also fined the condemned convicts Tk 500,000 each and acquitted six others from murder charge. 

According to the prosecution, the convicts has a long standing dispute with Abdul Khaleque Sarker, an employee of BADC, over lands Latifabad village in Sadar upazila. 

Following the dispute, Akkas locked into a quarrel Asadur Rahman, son of the employee of BADC, in front of their house on June 30, 2012. 

Being obstructed by Abdul Khaleque, the convicts and their supporters beat him randomly with sticks and rods that left him injured critically.   

Later, Abdul Khaleque was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, advocate Saidur Rahman, younger son of the victim, filed a case with Kishoreganj Model Police Station acusing eight people.
   
Police submitted the charge-sheet accusing four people on February 28, 2013.

After examining records and witnesses, Kishoreganj Additional District and Session Judge Court-2 judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict.
