BAGERHAT: A suspected robber was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Coast Guard in a place close to Sonaimukhi canal of the Sundarbans in Bagerhat Sunday (Feb 17) night.

Four guns and one round of bullet were recovered from the spot.

Coast Guard West Zone Operation Officer Lt Abdullah Al Mahmud confirmed the matter.   

The deceased, belonged to Asabur Bahini, couldn’t be identified immediately.

On tip-off, a team of Coast Guard launched a drive at the night.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, robbers opened fire at them.

The Coast Guard members fired back, in retaliation.

As the shootout ended, the unidentified robber was found with bullet injuries.

He was taken to Dakope Upazila Health Complex where the physician pronounced him dead.
