32 grenades defused in Khulna A team of Bomb Disposal Unit.

KHULNA: A team of Bomb Disposal Unit defused the 32 grenades recovered from a shrimp enclosure in Paikgacha upazila of Khulna Sunday (Feb 17) night.  

Jashore Cantonment GOC 55th Infantry Division Maj Ashfaq led the team. 

Paikgacha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emdadul Huq Sheikh and OC (Investigation) Rahmat Ali were present.

On Sunday morning, workers found the grenades while digging soil in the shrimp enclosure of one Abul Kalam in Laskar union.

“A 6-member expert team has managed to defuse the grenades through a fair and safe process,” said Maj Ashfaq.

It was assumed that the grenades were hidden under soil during the Liberation War in 1971.
