PM Hasina reaches UAE from Germany

MUNICH: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Abu Dhabi from Germany on Sunday (Feb 17) on her three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX-2019).

A flight of Etihad Airways EY-004 carrying the primer her entourage members landed left Munich International Airport around 10:00pm (local time) Saturday and landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport at 6:30 am (Abu Dhabi time).

During her three-day official tour in Germany, the premier joined the 55th Security Conference in Munich held on Feb 15-16.

The opening session of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX-2019) will be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) Sunday.

The premier will have meetings with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and hold bilateral talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai. She will have meetings with other leaders.

PM Hasina will meet Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi, wife of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the Inaugural President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, at Al Bahar Palace.

The prime minister will be accorded a community reception by Bangladeshi expatriates living in UAE at St Regis Abu Dhabi Hotel.

Sheikh Hasina reached Munich on Thursday (Feb 14) in her maiden overseas tour in two countries – Germany and the UAE – after assuming office for the third consecutive term in January.

On the sidelines of the Munich conference, PM Hasina addressed a roundtable on ‘Health in Crises – WHO Cares’ and participated in a panel discussion on “Climate Change as a security threat”.

International Criminal Court (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Dr. Fatu Bensouda and Executive Director of the International Campaign to abolish Nuclear Weapons Nobel laureate Batrice Fihn called on Bangladesh Prime Minister here.

PM Sheikh Hasina was accorded a civic reception organized by Bangladeshi expatriates in Germany at Hotel Sheraton.

The prime minister is scheduled to return home from Abu Dhabi on February 20.
