BHOLA:  A woman and a child were burnt to death as miscreants set fire to them while they were asleep in Lalmohan upazila of the district.

The incident occurred at Charbhuta village of the upazila on Saturday night (January 19).

The victims were identified as Surma, 25, wife of Rafiq, hailed from Borhanuddin upazila, Khadija, 8, niece of Surma and daughter of Rafijal.

Khadija’s mother Angkura, who was also burnt, is now undergoing treatment at  Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Face and other parts of her body were burnt. 

“Surma’s husband Rafiq could be involved in the incident, because the couple had dispute over dowry for quite some time,” said Mir Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalmohan Police Station.

“No one was identified in the darkness. Police inspected the site. A case will be filed,” OC added.
