Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF along Thakurgaon border

THAKURGAON: A Bangladeshi young man was shot to death by jawans of Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) along Dharmagarh border in Ranishankail upazila early on Friday (Jan 18).

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam Raju, 21, son of Badsha Miah, a resident of Shahanabad village in the upazila.

Locals and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said a group of Bangladeshis, including Jahangir, illegally entered into India through border pillar no. 374/2 around 4 am. 

Noticing that BSF members of Sripur camp opened fire on them, leaving Jahangir died on the spot while the others managed to flee. 

Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud, commander of BGB Thakurgaon-50 Battalion, said “We are trying to contact with BSF”.
