Rickshaw puller killed in Sylhet Deceased Sebul Mia alias Raja

SYLHET: A rickshaw puller was killed by hitting him on his head over a trivial matter in Pirijpur Chalker Bazar area of South Surma in Sylhet Wednesday (Jan 16) night.

The deceased was identified as Sebul Mia alias Raja, 35, a resident of Lamakazi union under Biswanath upazila.

He resided in a rickshaw garage in Lauai area of South Surma. 

Locals said Sebul passed idle time at a shop in Chalker Bazar area.

On Wednesday, one Sohel Mia came to the shop for a chips. Sebul tried to throw the chips packet to Sohel vowing to help.

Sohel became furious with him as the packet fell on the ground.

Following a scuffle between the two, Sohel afterwards hit on Sebul’s head with wooden ruler. Sebul fell on the ground immediately.

He was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the on-duty physician.

On information, police visited the spot.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue. Sohel went into hiding since the incident. Efforts are on to detain him, said South Surma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Fazal.
