DHAKA: The body of Freedom Fighter Azizul Huq Chowdhury, who died at a hospital in Belgium, will arrive in Dhaka on Thursday (Jan 17) . 

By a flight of Turkish airways, his body will arrive at Shahjalal International Airport around 2:00pm on the day.

Azizul Huq Chowdhury, also liberation war affairs secretary of Belgium unit Awami League, will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Agailjhora upazila of Barisal, says Jahangir Chowdhury, general secretary of Belgium unit AL.

He will be given state owner before the burial.

Earlier on Tuesday, a dua mahfil was held followed by his first namaz-e-janaza at Antwerp Mosque. 

Bangladesh Ambassador to Belgium Mohammed Shahdat Hossain, embassy officials, member of Bangladesh community in Belgium, were, among the attendees.

The veteran freedom fighter died at University of Antwerp Hospital in Belgium around 2:00pm on Sunday (Jan 13). He was 80.
