DHAKA: Veteran journalist Amanullah Kabir passed away at the age of 72.
He breathed his last around 1 am at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Wednesday (January 16).
Shatil Kabir, son of the deceased, confirmed the matter to media.
He was born in Jamalpur district on January 24, 1947.
His journalistic career spanned more than four decades. Kabir joined country’s first online news portal bdnews24.com as a senior editor in 2013.
He worked for Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, The Daily Star, Daily Amar Desh, and The Daily Telegraph (defunct), to name but a few.
Being as the president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, this eminent journalist was in the forefront of campaign to establish rights of journalists.
