DHAKA: The government has finalized a plan to set up an international airport naming after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the other side of Padma River next to the Padma Bridge, says Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism.

“The airport will be center point of the East and the West,” the minister said this while inspecting the office of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh on Tuesday (Jan 15).

“There is a challenge in the new assignment. I must win the challenge, discharging my duty properly. Bangladesh Biman will move forward addressing all the challenges”. 

“Many mega projects by the government are underway. My first priority is to finish projects in time”, Mahbub Ali said. 

The state minister further said work on Bangabandhu International Airport had started. The place was also set in Munshiganj, but it was stopped facing opposition from locals. Fresh feasibility study has done… site selection is almost in final stage. It will be across the river, next to the Padma Bridge.
