DHAKA: The Election Commission directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate into the attack on motorcade of Dr Kamal Hossain and submit the probe report within three days.

The EC on Monday (Dec 17) sent a letter to the Police Headquarter over the attack on Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal’s motorcade the Martyred Intellectuals' Memorial in Mirpur on December 14.

EC’s joint secretary Md Abul Kashem told banglanews that the EC has sent a letter to IGP asking him to probe into the attack on Dr Kamal’s motorcade and submit report within three days.  

In the letter, the IGP has been asked to inform the EC about actions taken by police after the incident, identify the attackers, why the incident occurred.  

The motorcade of Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain was allegedly attacked at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum in Mirpur in the city on Friday (Dec 14).

Later on Saturday (Dec 15) night, Syed Abu Bakar Siddique Saju, BNP candidate from Dhaka-14, filed a case with Darussalam Police Station accusing 12 people over the attack 

Dr Kamal Hossain's motorcade came under attack near the Martyred Intellectuals' Memorial in the capital's Mirpur on December 14.
