DHAKA: The cyclonic storm ‘Phethai’ formed over southwest Bay has triggered rainfall in various parts of the country Monday (Dec 17).
After moving northwestwards, Phethai has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm.
It is likely to move further in a north-northwesterly direction and may cross Andhra Pradesh Coast (near Kakinada) of India by the after noon, said Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD) weather forecast.
BMD has issued Distant Cautionary Signal-2 for the maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the ports have been asked to abstain from venturing into deep sea until further notice.
