CHANDPUR: A young man reportedly has hanged himself after killing his wife and two children following a family dispute in Rampur union under Chandpur sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Md Mainuddin, 30, his wife Fatema Akter, 25, daughter Mithila Farzana, 5 and son Siyam, 1.

Police recovered the bodies from the deceased’s residence in Debpur village under the union Monday (Dec 17) morning.

Mainuddin worked in a bakery in Chattogram.

According to Mainuddin’s mother Firoza Begum, a dispute erupted among Mainul and his wife after the latter had lost an earring few days ago.

Around 4am, Mainuddin’s Malaysia expatriate elder brother Jashim Uddin informed Firoza Begum over phone that Mainuddin uploaded a video on his Facebook account announcing that he is going to die.

Jashim asked her mother to check them at their room also.

Afterwards, at early hours of the morning, the two children were found dead under a quilt, Mainul was found hanging in the room and Fatema tied with a pole in the pond.

Locals suspect that Fatema was killed by poisoning and the children were choked to death.

On information, Chandpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Jihadul Kabir visited the spot.

The bodies were sent to Chandpur Govt General Hospital for autopsies, said Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nasim Uddin.

Investigation will run into the incident, to reveal details, he added.
