DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said necessary measures will be taken following investigation against those who carried out the attack on Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade.

CEC came up with the assurance at a news conference from Election Commission (EC) media center on Saturday (December 15).

CEC said, “Dr Kamal’s incident is pitiful. He is a senior citizen and a very famous person. This is not acceptable. The attack on his motorcade is deemed as criminal offence.”

“They (victims) on Saturday filed a petition to take actions against the attackers. We’ll take up the matter with electoral investigation committee and will take necessary steps based on the report afterwards,” CEC also said. 

The motorcade of Dr Kamal Hossain was allegedly attacked at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum on Friday (December 14). 

Miscreants attacked Dr Kamal’s motorcade while he was coming out from the Mausoleum after paying homage to the martyrs. 

While talking to reporters, Dr Kamal, however, blamed the activists of Jubo League and Chhatra League for the incident.
