DHAKA:  Bangladeshi film director Amjad Hossain died at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok on Friday (December 14).

Amjad Hossain breathed his last at age 76.

Film Director SA Haque Alique confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Following a brain stroke on November 18, Amjad Hossain was hospitalized at a city hospital. He was on life support for a couple of days.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave Taka 20 lakhs for his better treatment and Taka 22 lakhs for air ambulance fare.

Amjad Hossain-directed films included "Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978)," "Sundori (1979)," "Koshai (1980)," "Jonmo Theke Jolchi (1982)," "Bhat Dey (1984)", "Golapi Ekhon Dhakay (2006)" and "Golapi Ekhon Bilatey (2010)."

He got National Film Awards for “Bhat Dey” and “Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978)" cinemas.

He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1993.  Apart from it, he received many other awards.
