ISHWARDI (PABNA): Two train passengers were killed and five others injured after being hit with Hardinge Bridge girder at Pakshi in Ishwardi upazila of the district on Friday (Dec 14).
The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam, 20, son of Jamal Uddin of Shigabj upazila of Bogra and Hakim Islam, 18, hailed from Shoilgari area of the same upazila.
The accident took place when some passengers fell off from the roof of Khulna-bound ‘Chitra Express’ train coming from Dhaka after being hit with the bridge girder around 5:00am, said Shahidul Islam, In Charge of Pakshi Police outpost.
Initially, local sources said six people were killed after falling off from the roof of ‘Chitra Express’ train in the both side of the Hardinge Bridge.
But police confirmed deaths of two passengers of the train and sent five injured to Kushtia General Hospital.
