2 ‘drug dealers’ killed in Teknaf ‘shootout’

COX’S BAZAR: Two suspected drug dealers were killed in a shootout reportedly held with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Road in Keruntoli area under Teknaf upazila early Tuesday (Nov 20).  

The deceased were identified as—Ashik Jahangir Kudrat, 32, and Md Arif Hossain, 30.

Lt Mirza Shahed from RAB’s Teknaf office told banglanews that gunshots were opened at the law enforcers while they signaled a Cox’s Bazar bound truck to stop before the RAB checkpost in Keruntoli area.

RAB fired back in retaliation.

At one stage, two bodies, one lakh of yaba pills, two locally made guns and eight bullets were recovered.

Some two to three men fled the scene, said Shahed. 

Efforts were underway to send the bodies to Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital.

Three separate cases will be filed with Teknaf Police Station over the incident, added the RAB official.
