KUSHTIA: A district court has sentenced life term imprisonment to a man, his wife and son for killing one college student Abdul Gani Tuhin in Kushtia.
Judge Arup Kumar Goswami of Kushtia District and Sessions Judge’s court came up with the verdict on Monday noon (Nov 19).
The convicts are- Mejbar Rahman, 60, hailing from Charbaniapara area in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia, his wife Ranjana Khatun, 50, and their son Roisuddin, 28. Of them, Roisuddin is absconding.
The court also acquitted two other accused in the case as the prosecution failed to produce enough evidence against them.
Court Public Prosecutor (PP) advocate Anup Kumar Nandi said Mejbar Rahman clashed with part-owners over a family land distribution on June 1 in 2012. College student Abdul Gani, 24, son of one Sahidul Molla of Boaldah village in Kushtia sadar upazila, was hacked by the convicts in the clash and died on way to hospital.
Later victim’s father filed a murder case with Kushtia model police station and then case was transferred to Kumarkhali police station, he added.
