Female journos stage human chain supporting #MeToo Journalists, activists at the rally

DHAKA:  ‘Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra’ formed a human chain in city’s National Press Club expressing solidarity with ongoing #MeToo movement.

Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra is a center for women journalists in Bangladesh which was established in March 13 in 2001.

They said, “We don’t want men as deceivers, abusers or oppressors, but as fellow colleagues of women to build our society and country. We want to take our country forward with hand in hands.”

The rally was attended by journalists, men and people of various professions on Sunday (November 18).

Journalist Nadia Sharmin said: “MeToo movement is not only for women, men have to speak out. We believe women are not only victims of sexual harassment, men too.”

Bangladeshi social activist Khushi Kabir and Dhaka University journalism department professor Gitiara Nasreen, BNSK president Nasimun Ara Haq Minu, secretary Parvin Sultana Jhuma and television channel Banglavision’s news editor Sharmin Rinvi, among others, attended the human chain.
