Oikyafront seeks cooperation from media for ‘fair polls’ Oikyafront leaders brief media following the meeting with editors

DHAKA:   Jatiya Oikyafront has sought cooperation from media to hold a fair, inclusive and credible 11th parliamentary election.

The opposition alliance held a views-exchange meeting with editors of print media at a city hotel on Friday (November 16).

“Editors have placed their views about various matters. They have drawn our attention,” Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain told reporters in the evening.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “We sought all sort of cooperation from media to hold a fair, inclusive and credible 11th national election.”

Apart from Dr Kamal Hossain and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, ASM Abdur Rab and Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna were present among others at the meeting.

Jatiya Oikyafront was formed on October 13.          

Jatiya Oikyafront includes Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, ASM Abdur Rab's Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Nagorik Oikya, Bangabir Kader Siddique-led Krishak Sramik Janata League, and BNP

Kader Siddique joined the alliance on November 5.

The alliance was formed with the demands of a national election under a neutral government after dissolution of parliament and release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

The alliance has held rallies in Sylhet, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi.
