DHAKA: A minor boy was burnt to death and six persons including four of a family sustained burn injuries as a gas cylinder exploded in Jatrabari of the capital city.  

The incident happened around 8:30am Friday (Nov 16).

The deceased was identified as Tahsan, 8.

The injured are—Sumon, 40, his wife Sajuli, 35, son Nishan, 14 and aunt Ator Begum, 70, and Alamgir, 30, and Kauji, 24.

They were admitted to the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Fire Service & Civil Defence Headquarters Duty Officer Rashed Shikder told banglanews four units of firefighters were sent to the spot.

“The explosion caused from reserved gas, leaving one dead on the spot,” he said.

The blaze was doused before the firefighters reached on the spot. 

The family lived in the city corporation quarter in Dholpur. They worked as cleaners of the city corporation, said Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Wazed Ali.
