HABIGANJ:  A mobile court sent a man to jail for beating his mother in Madhabpur Upazila of the district.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Motiur Rahman Khan gave the order on Thursday (November 15).

40-year-old Abdul Ali, son of Abdus Satthar, was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment.

“Abdul Ali used to beat his mother and other family members quite often for his drug money at Bengadoba village of the upazila,” Kamrul Islam, Sub Inspector (SI) of Madhabpur police station, told Banglanews.

“Following such an event, locals phoned at 999 number on Thursday morning. Later, police went to the spot, detained him, and presented before a mobile court. Abdul Ali was sent to jail afterwards,” SI added.
