DHAKA: Myanmar government has confirmed on Monday (Nov 12) that they will start the much-delayed Rohingya repatriation from Nov 15.
A total of 2260 Rohingyas will be sent back to Myanmar in first phase starting from that day. However, only 150 Rohingyas will be repatriated per day.
Earlier on October 30, a joint working committee meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar was held. Foreign secretary M Shahidul Alam led the Bangladesh delegation while the other side was led by his Myanmar counterpart Mint Thu.
At the meeting, a list of Rohingyas was handed over to Myanmar for repatriation. Myanmar agreed to start the repatriation from Nov 15.
