DHAKA: The ruling Awami League has welcomed the new schedule for the 11th parliamentary election announced by the Election Commission. 

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader briefed reporters on the matter at party president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office on Monday noon (Nov 12).

Earlier at morning, the Election Commission has declared a new schedule for 11th parliamentary elections which will be held on December 30 in face of deferral proposals from opposition parties. Previously, EC announced Dec 23 as voting day.    

On the issue of new polls schedule, Quader said, “BNP would have participate in polls even if EC did not declare new polls schedule. However, I welcome the EC’s decision. It will be a fair and participatory election.”

Quader also mentioned that the sale and submission of AL nomination form will end today evening and nomination seekers will be interviewed on Nov 14.
