Decision on polls reschedule Monday: CEC

DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said the decision on deferring the 11th parliamentary election will be taken on Monday (Nov 12).

CEC made the remarks to reporters at EC building on Sunday evening (Nov 11).

According to EC announced schedule, the election will be held on December 23. However, Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront has sent a letter to EC requesting it to defer the polls for one month. Moreover, Jukta Front also urged EC to hold te election on Dec 30. 

Earlier in the day, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader hinted that ruling party has no objection if the polls is deferred and that the EC to decide on the matter.

When asked about the matter, CEC said that the commission has not heard the news yet.
