23rd JS session begins, continue till Thursday

DHAKA: The 23rd and also the last session of the current parliament began at 4:30pm on Sunday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Prior to the start of the session, the business advisory committee of parliament met with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair to fix the duration and businesses of the coming session.

Besides, the committee members including opposition leader Rowshan Ershad, HM Ershad, Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Fazle Rabbi Mia, Abul Hasanat Abdullah, Rashed Khan Menon, ASM Feroze, Main Uddin Khan Badal and Anisul Haque took part in the session.

The 23rd session of the 10th national parliament will continue for five working days till Thursday (October 5). The session will begin from 4:15pm daily. However, the Speaker can change day and time if needed.

On October 4, President Abdul Hamid convened the session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution.

The 10th parliament went into its maiden session on January 29, 2014.
