4 Bangladeshi nationals killed in South Africa shop fire Two of the four deceased

FENI:  Four Bangladeshi nationals, including three members of a family, were killed as a fire broke out in a shop of Brits town located in North West Province of South Africa on early Saturday (October 20).

Three of the deceased-Mominul Haque, son of Bajler Rahman Khan, of Feni municipality, Anowar Hossen, 25, son of Abul khayer, of Sonagazi Upazila, Mosharraf, Hossen, 28, and Mohammad Ibrahim, of Jamalpur- are from Feni.

Nabiul Haque, elder brother of Mominul Haque, told Banglanews: “Terrorists demanded extortion and set fire to the shop at dawn on Saturday, leaving four of them dead. They had been residing there for 9-10 years.”

“Fire was set to the deceased’s own shop while they were asleep. The cause of the fire has not been established yet. Locals confirmed that four dead bodies were inside the shop,” Bangladeshi businessmen Badsha and Zia told Banglanews.

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daganbhuiyan police station Saleh Ahmed Pathan and local Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Md Swapon said: “Three of the deceased, who died in South Africa, are from Feni.”
