‘Drug trader’ killed in Pabna ‘shootout’

The deceased identified as Tipu Sheikh, 45, son of Late Asar Uddin hailed Kabirpur village in Sadar upazilla. 

Two RAB members were also injured in the incident.

Ruhul Amin, commanding officer of Rab-12, said that on information a team of RAB conducted a drive in an abandoned building of a cotton mill around 4am.

The gang members, sensing the presence of the RAB team, opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gun fight.

After the drug traders had fled the scene, Tipu was found injured with bullet. Later, he was rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he added.

Police recovered a foreign revolver, five rounds of bullet and 770 Yaba tablets from the spot. Tipu was accused in eight drug cases, said Ruhul Amin.
