BANDARBAN: A tourist went missing after being washed away in the stream of Nafakhum waterfall under Remakri union in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on Wednesday morning (October 17).

The missing youth was identified as Ariful Hasan, 27, a resident of Kachukhet area of Dhaka.

Quoting locals, police said six tourists went to Thanchi from Bandarban in the morning and later went to visit Nafakhum waterfall by a engine-driven boat. Ariful washed away by strong stream of water while crossing Sengum hill waterfall and had been missing since then.

Thanchi Balipara Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion captain Lieutenant Cornel Habibul Hasan also confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

On information, BGB and police personnel went to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
