NARSINGDI: Law enforcement agencies have used a drone to inspect the scene of a suspected militant hideout in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi which they have been cordoning off since Monday night (Oct 15).

Police have started monitoring the whole area and movements of the suspects by flying the drone Wednesday (Oct 17) morning.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit members have been cordoning-off the seven-storey house named ‘Nilufa Vila’ located at some 200-gauge away from Madhabdi Municipality Bhaban owned by one  Afzal Hossain, on suspicion that militants might be hiding there.

Section-144 have been imposed in the locality and residents asked to avoid walking outside the homes and the rooftops.

All the marketplaces and educational institutions have been directed to shut down.

CTTC are carrying out an operation at the militant hideout and Narsingdi district police are ensuring the security measures, Narsingdi Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdullah Al Mamun told Banglanews.

However, two suspected militants were killed in a joint-force operation 'Gordian Knot' conducted in another militant hideout in Shaikerchar area under Narsingdi Sadar upazila on Tuesday (October 16).
