JESSORE (BENAPOLE): A businessman was reportedly beaten to death by miscreants in Sadipur village under Benapole municipality in Jessore Monday (Oct 15) night.

The deceased was identified as Ahsan, 42.

One Buno Akter, a resident of the village, and his friends took cigarettes from a shop and didn’t pay, at the night. Ahsan was on way to home in that time, his elder brother Ismail Khan told Banglanews.

At one stage, Buno and his friends became enraged and had beaten Ahsan mercilessly as he tried to solve the feud over not paying the shopkeeper for the cigarettes, added Ismail.

Family members rescued Ahsan from the spot, in a critical condition.

He succumbed to his injuries while was being taken to a hospital, Ismail said further.
   
Moreover, locals alleged of being helpless over oppressive activities of Buno Akter and his associates on a regular basis.   

However, the body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, Benapole Port Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shahin told Banglanews.

Necessary steps will be taken once a case is filed over the incident, he added.
