Dr Kamal allies with corrupts, killers: PM Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressing a rally in Madaripur

MADARIPUR: Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said Gono Forum leader Dr Kamal Hossain made alliance with killers and crooked men of BNP.

“Kamal Hossain made unity with those who burned people to death, embezzled money allocated for orphans. BNP is currently led by Tarique Rahman who is a convicted fugitive. Though Kamal advocates himself as a man of moral, made deal with such immoral killers,” she said.

The premier was addressing as chief guest at a rally adjacent to Kathalbari ferry ghat area in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur on Sunday afternoon (October 14).

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the ‘Padma Bridge Rail Link Construction Project’ in the area.

The premier said, “BNP founder Ziaur Rahman sheltered murderers like Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad who killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia wanted make Awami League leaderless by killing me on August 21. BNP burned alive some 3,800 people through arson attack in 2014 and those who survived the attack living insufferable life.”

Mentioning Jamaat and BNP is an alliance, Sheikh Hasina said, “Jamaat carried out brutality and crimes against humanity during the 1971 liberation war and they continue to do so as of today whenever get a chance.”

The premier also said BNP-Jamaat was involved in the 2009 BDR carnage incident as Khaleda Zia went underground on the day it occurred. Of the 57 army officers killed in the Pilkahna massacre, 33 were from Awami League background.

Sheikh Hasina also criticized Dr Kamal Hossain for making unity with BNP, sarcastically saying, “I want to congratulate Kamal for leaving ‘boat’ of AL and grabbing ‘Paddy sheaf’ of BNP.”

The premier said she had to face threats while implementing the Padma Bridge project. She said the World Bank stopped the funding of Padma Bridge under the influence of Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus. 

Earlier on Oct 13 evening, Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain announced a new political alliance with BNP excluding Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury-led Jukto Front. The premier was addressing the new alliance in her speech.
